So it’s December 31st 2013.
I honestly feel like as I get older every year seems to go by faster and faster. I’ve been told this by my beaver scout parents too
“Just wait till you have children Melissa! time flies!”
Was this year great? Sure. Was is amazing? Maybe. 2013 definitely had a lot of ups and downs. The downs being the latter half of the year. But regardless I acheieved a lot this past year. I got a new job (started out on the unemployment train very scenic and fun) ran 3 half marathons, did some travelling within Canada, am still dating an amazing guy (that’s a big deal for me!)
I still feel like I could have done more. We’re our own worst critic aren’t we?
So what’s the point here? Well as I enter the new year I decided a running blog would be a great way to hold myself accountable as I venture further into running and creating a more active lifestyle for myself. I was really struggling with a name. Sad I know but bare with me.
I choose the name Running in Red lipstick because that’s one of my goals.
Yes. I’m still carrying my total mileage from 2013 and I realized . Hey there’s 52 weeks in a year. I definitely try to run at leas tonce a week….why not do at least one run in red lipstick? Why? Because it’s fun. Because it’s become a signature of mine.Ask any of my scouting friends. I even wear lipstick at camp. I have to match my uniform see? I plan to take more photos of my runs as well. I’m such a hypocrit that way. I love taking pictures but hate having my own photo taken. Since I was little even!
I’m still trying to work out a race schedule for 2014 so hopefully in the next while I’ll have that sorted. But my main goal si trail running! I plan really “Get off the road” and push myself on our lovely trails within BC!
Today I ended the year with running Deer Lake!
It’s grey and lovely isn’t it? Don’t swim in the water. Trust me.
It was more of a run walk but no matter what I always feel better. Plus the lovely CJ joined me and everything is better with company!
Including her dog Aurora!
I have no idea what 2014 has in store for me but I hope it’s a lot!
